Eventers Do it Right at HITS Show Jumping

At the crack of dawn, I rolled out of bed jumped in the shower and put on my Victory Sport Horses eventing gear. You wouldn't guess it, but we were in for a spectacular day at Culpeper show jumping.
After pulling all the horses from the fields and putting them on the trailer we pulled out of our barn and hit the open road. Or at least I assume we did , I slept the entire time. Only waking up to glance back to see if the other working students were awake too.
Upon arriving, we pulled Gary (our trusty golf cart) out of the trailer. While the others tacked up the horses, Kate and I went to register, and filled out a pile of paper work. Then we went to walk my course. I was in awe by the fact that Kate and I were the only people decked out in white pants. Then we hopped on the horses and claimed a jump ( that's how the jumpers do warm up every person has one jump and you have to fix it to the way you like). I had a wonderful warm up and waited on the side of the arena for my turn. I glanced around and remarked that I was both the only junior and of the only armatures in my division level one. Competing against even Kate ( who I work for) on two horses. Dobbin was a little slow in the course and I had to gallop to all of the fences making quick jumper turns. Screaming the entire way " GO GO GO GO GO GO GO!" and
"good baby!". I could hear the spectators laughing and commenting "that girl reminds me of so and so" and
"that horse is just like..". And when I walked away with a clear round with two time penalties I knew I had brought a little joy to their day. I may not have ribboned but i consider my day a spectacular success and I couldn't be prouder of my little eventer pony!
Thanks for reading!
